Where Can We Find You?
What Are You Currently Working On?
This has been a year of travel. Right now I’m finishing up the photos from a 5 day trip to Virginia that included some time in Shenandoah National Park. Up next is Washington State followed by the Bahamas, and North Carolina.
I’m also trying to fight burn out with personal projects. I have several styled photo sessions coming up, including one that is Moonrise Kingdom inspired, I’ve recently taken on film, and I’m working on a book about my experiences as a wedding photographer.
What Drives You To Create?
I’m a lover of all things folky, quirky and whimsical. More than that though, are the stories. Everybody has one, and I want to tell it. There is something unbelievably powerful about capturing a moment. They happen all around us, everyday. You just have to look for them. The little boy at the park joyfully snuggling his mom, the elderly couple walking down the street holding hands, and the groom crying tears of joy as he looks into the eyes of his new wife. Nothing makes my heart sing more than telling those stories through my images.
For The Record
Life is a beautiful mess. It will rain on weddings, children will throw fits, wardrobes will malfunction, and clients will fall in rivers. True story, by the way. When you run into an obstacle, don’t let it ruffle your feathers. Most of my very favorite photos were taken in moments of frazzle. Those are the images that are full of life and emotion. Images that will be cherished and reminisced upon for generations. Don’t let those moments escape. Embrace the chaos and call it documentary.
